Saraya Returned To The Ring After 5 Years With A Victory At Full Gear

Saraya (WWE’s Paige) made a successful return to in-ring action last Saturday at the AEW Full Gear pay-per-view. This was her first match in five years after the neck injury she suffered back at a WWE house show.

In WWE, Saraya as Paige was the first NXT Women’s champion and a two time WWE Divas champion.

Back in 2017, at WWE Live event in New York, she was performing in a six woman tag team match, when Sasha Banks delivered a double mule kick to the back of her neck. She immediately went down & went out on a stretcher. The injury was later found out to be a career ending neck concussion.

She had returned from a neck surgery recently and after this injury, she announced her retirement from the ring on the RAW after WrestleMania 34. Since then, she got new roles as General Manager of SmackDown & even managed the Kabuki Warriors tag team. She was also contributing to the WWE Backstage show. The Rock & WWE produced movie Fighting With My Family is based on her and her wrestling family. In July this year, she announced her departure from WWE via twitter.

She made an in-ring appearance at Dynamite Grand Slam on September 21st this year after signing with AEW. Then she engaged in a physical altercation with Dr. Britt Baker, D.M.D. on the Dynamite episode of October 5th. Finally, on the November 9th Dynamite, she declared that the doctors had cleared her medically, to compete in the ring. She announced that she will face Baker in a match at Full Gear.

At the event, she was victorious against the dentist in a good match. Britt tried to attack Saraya’s neck in the beginning but she eventually hit Baker with her finishing move previously known as RamPaige (cradle DDT).

She hit 2 of them on her opponent for the win. After the match, she celebrated with her real life brother Zak Zodiac.
