After this highlight of the night, let’s take a look at the match results of Extreme Rules 2022:
The Brawling Brutes defeat Imperium (Good Ol’ Fashioned Donnybrook match):
The match was the Banger that it was supposed to be with crowd chants of “This is awesome” echoing through the arena. It had shillelaghs breaking on backs, feats of brute strength, chests being used as drums among loads of actions. Finally, it was a brogue kick by Sheamus on Imperium’s Giovanni Vinci that sealed the deal and the Celtic Warrior picked up the win via pinfall. It was an important win for Brutes who have been feuding with their fellow European opponents for months now, but have mostly come up short.

Ronda Rousey defeats Liv Morgan (c) (SmackDown Women’s Championship – Extreme Rules match):
Liv Morgan had a clear physical disadvantage against her challenger Ronda Rousey, who is a former UFC fighter. This match had an extreme rules stipulation which leveled the playing field for the champion because she was allowed to use weapons. However, Rousey had access to weapons as well and she did just that by grabbing Liv’s baseball bat and used it against her. Both women used a varied number of objects on each other. At a point, Morgan even had Ronda crashing through the table with her flying senton. But was overwhelmed by her challenger’s superior wrestling skills as she was finally choked out with a modified chokehold. At max, it was an average match that saw a new SmackDown Women’s champion.

Karrion Kross defeats Drew McIntyre (Strap Match):
This Strap match started with Carrion Kross refusing to wear a strap, which did not stop Drew McIntyre from attacking him. They brawled into the crowd before Drew finally strapped Karrion. As evident, both men used the strap as a whip. McIntyre was taking his frustrations out on Kross, who has been ambushing him for months now. As Scarlett interfered, Kross gained the upper hand and viciously whipped McIntyre on the outside. With zeal, the Scottish Warrior then launched an offensive against his opponent and was about to hit him with a claymore kick. But Scarlett interfered once again, pepper spraying the Scotsman. He was helpless without his vision when Kross sealed the deal with a Kross Hammer forearm to the back of his head. He won via pinfall in this match, which was not much of a spectacle but easily his biggest win in WWE.

Bianca Belair (c) defeats Bayley (Raw Women’s Championship – Ladder Match):
The match was a good show of the ring know how of both superstars. Being a ladder match, they were trying to use it to retrieve the belt hanging above. Both women delivered their signature moves on ladders which all looked great. However, as Belair was about to retrieve and retain her belt, Bayley’s DAMAGE CTRL intervened, who were double KODed off the top ropes. This allowed Bayley to gain the advantage and she pinned Belair under a ladder while climbing it. But Belair being strong as she is, still tilted the ladder dropping Bayley to the ground. After some back and forth between the two, Bianca KODed Bayley, who was carrying a piece of the ladder. Bianca subsequently ascended the ladder to retrieve the title belt. A good match all in all with good spots but could have been better if Belair’s friends would have fought off Iyo sky and Dakota Kai on the ringside.
What a ladder 🪜 match!👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽🔥🔥🔥🔥 Lowkey wanted bayley to win it after her long injury hiatus.Advertisement

Finn Bálor defeats Edge (I Quit Match):
In this long and grueling match, which saw both foes fight each other inside the ring and outside, many weapons were used for punishing each other’s bodies. Edge used a hockey stick as a crossface and Bálor used chair shots. But none of them were ready to say “I Quit” on the referee’s mic. When it seemed like The Rater R Superstar was about to win, Bálor’s Judgment Day cohorts intervened. However, a spear through the ropes by Edge took care of all the men. Rhea Ripley proved to be the trump card here when she handcuffed Edge to the ropes while Bálor and Damian Priest took turns painting his back with kendo sticks. Rey Mysterio helped Edge momentarily but his own son, Dominik Mysterio attacked him outside. Edge’s wife Beth Phoenix finally came to his rescue when she freed him of the handcuffs and thwarted both Bálor and Ripley. Edge even returned an old favor to Dominik with a kick to the groin. He seemed poised to win with a crossface with a chair piece on Bálor when Rhea clocked Beth with brass knuckles, forcing him to release the hold. It was all Judgement Day from there as they held Edge down for three Coup de Grâces consecutively. Edge finally uttered the dreaded words “I Quit” when Ripley threatened his wife with a Con-chair-to as the men held him down. However, even after Bálor won, Ripley did it anyway. A great match with lots of emotions.
Edge was forced to say "I Quit" as Rhea held Beth hostage with a con-chair-to. After he says it, she nails Beth anyways.Advertisement

Matt Riddle defeats Seth Rollins (Fight Pit Match)
My old pal @dc_mma is involved, so you know I wouldn't be far behind.Advertisement

The main event that was refereed by UFC Hall Of Famer Daniel Cormier, was the Fight Pit. Matt Riddle is a former UFC fighter, seemed more at home here. Seth Rollins in his RVD-inspired gear even delivered a frog splash off the cage wall. After some back and forth, Rollins climbed onto the second level of the Fight Pit, where they continued to brawl. After receiving an RKO in the precarious position, Rollins climbed down. Riddle then planted a Broton on Rollins from the platform, which was the match’s highlight. Riddle then applied a standing triangle submission which Rollins tried to power out of but finally submitted to Riddle’s technique. Daniel Cormier raised Riddle’s hand in the end as they left.
Miz/Dexter Lumis segment
A backstage storyline involving birthday boy Miz was at play during Extreme Rules. The Philadelphia Flyers mascot Gritty was trying to be friends with him. Gritty was trying to gift a T-shirt to Miz which he rejected throughout the show. A frustrated Miz finally put a beatdown on Gritty but as always, Dexter Lumis was standing behind him. Lumis choked him unconscious and helped Gritty up, who kicked The Miz in the gut as they walked away.
