AEW is going through turbulent times with wrestlers getting involved in backstage fights among many other issues. The latest news is about a backstage fight that happened between Andrade El Idolo and Sammy Guevara. Andrade was asked to go home after the incident but not Guevara.
The incident happened backstage at AEW Dynamite at the Entertainment & Sports Arena in Washington D.C. on Wednesday night. They were exchanging words at the hallway and throwing punches at each other, although it’s not clear if anyone got hit.
Apparently Sammy was the one who pushed Andrade first, who was waiting in the hallway to confront him. However, it’s unclear how the altercation went about and who hit whom first.
The beef between the two latinos started when Guevara complained about being hit too hard during matches. When confronted, Sammy said that everything was fine between them. Andrade also pointed out many WWE wrestlers who like to hit hard and who do not complain.

Sammy and Andrade then got embroiled in a back and forth twitter war.

Apparently, the AEW Locker room did not like Guevara’s taking his personal problems on a public platform.
AEW management had an intuition about tensions brewing between the two and had a meeting with them on Tuesday. They warned them that if they fight, they would be sent home. They had even placed extra security backstage to prevent the incident.
Reportedly, Samy didn’t throw any punches during the fight, which is why he wasn’t sent home unlike Andrade.
Andrade is married to WWE superstar Charlotte Flair and has publicly expressed his desire to leave the company with the hashtag #FreeElIIdolo
Wrestling journalist Dave Meltzer says that this incident is Andrade’s attempt at getting fired, to return to WWE.
