AEW Superstar Cody Rhodes has made it clear that he has no intentions of playing the character of a heel in his All Elite Wrestling career. The American Nightmare has made a name for himself with his fantastic wrestling performances in AEW. Before joining AEW, Rhodes worked in the WWE, where he portrayed the role of a heel sometimes.
In a recent interview with Bleacher Report AMA, Cody Rhodes spoke on a wide range of topics, and he also touched upon a possible heel turn in AEW in future. Rhodes clarified that he does not wish to play a negative role and will retire as a babyface only. Here’s what Cody had to say:
“I’m of the belief that if you pay your money you can cheer, boo, etc. To go from a warm reception to an adversarial reception… I’ll retire before I become a heel. I’m not going to make decisions that are bad for our youth to see. That’s the challenge, how do I maintain where I’m at when the crowd wants to get a different flavour,” said Cody Rhodes.
Cody Rhodes recently made his return to AEW. He had been off TV ever since his match against Malakai Black, where he suffered a crushing defeat. But Cody is back now, and he has reignited his rivalry with Malakai.
Cody Rhodes vs. Malakai Black this week on AEW Dynamite
As mentioned ahead, the rivalry between former WWE Superstars Cody Rhodes and Malakai Black has reached at the next level now. The two stars are set to lock horns on AEW Dynamite: Grand Slam this week.
It will be interesting to see which Superstar comes out on top in this match. Malakai Black had squashed Cody at AEW Dynamite: Homecoming. Thus, he will be the favorite to win at Grand Slam as well.
