The Rock’s Next WWE Opponent Reportedly Revealed
The Rock is undoubtedly the biggest Superstar in WWE history. With a fan following in millions, The Rock has made a massive name for himself outside WWE. Interestingly, though, the Brahma Bull has not announced his retirement from WWE. He still makes occasional appearances for the pro-wrestling promotion.
His last appearance came back in 2019 for the premier episode of Friday Night SmackDown on FOX. On that episode, he came out to help the RAW Women’s Champion Becky Lynch fight King Corbin. The WWE Universe has not seen the former WWE Champion in the squared circle ever since.
However, if the latest reports are to be believed, The Rock will come back to WWE soon and set up a match against his cousin Roman Reigns for WrestleMania 39. The mega event will happen in Hollywood, meaning WWE could book a massive main event. Here’s what Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter had to say:
“The idea is to lead to the biggest WrestleMania ever in 2023 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA, with Reigns vs. The Rock and Becky Lynch vs. Rousey.”
Dave Meltzer also confirmed that The Rock vs. Roman Reigns is not a 100% lock
While Meltzer reported that the next opponent of The Brahma Bull will be his cousin Roman Reigns, he also clarified that it is not a 100% lock for WrestleMania 39 because Dwayne Johnson’s schedule can change any time.
“Of course a million things may happen between then and now and with Dwayne Johnson’s schedule, it may not be possible,” Meltzer added.
It is still not 100% confirmed if the duo of cousins will headline WrestleMania 39, but one thing is for sure, and that is the next opponent of The Rock in WWE will be Roman Reigns. This match will most likely happen for the WWE Universal Championship at WrestleMania 39.
