Kurt Angle’s Birthday Celebration On SmackDown Was A Throwback To The Attitude Era

Oh, It’s Damn True. Kurt Angle’s birthday celebration happened on SmackDown last week and it was a helluva ceremony. The show was emanating from the PPG Paints Arena in Pittsburg, Pennsylvania, Angle’s hometown.

This year’s Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Steveson accompanied the 1996 Olympic Gold Medalist Angle and stayed by his side. Kurt’s birthday party was going on backstage all throughout the show. Towards the end of the show, he told Steveson that he wanted to address the crowd alone and headed to the ring. The 54 year old birthday boy’s cake was already there in the ring.

As he was speaking his heart out to the crowd, Alpha Academy interrupted him. Chad Gable complained about not getting an invitation to the party. He and Otis forced the birthday boy to get out of the ring. Right then his fellow Olympic Gold medalist Gable Steveson came to the rescue with a milk truck. He and Angle then recreated Kurt’s famous moment from the Attitude Era. They hosed down the two annoying duo with milk just like Angle had done it to The Alliance two decades earlier.

He posed for the crowd as the show came to an end.

After the show had ended, the whole SmackDown locker room came out to congratulate him in the ring and Triple H came out and posed with Angle on the ramp. The entire PPG Paints Arena sang the Happy Birthday Song for Kurt.

Angle later thanked WWE Chief Content Officer Triple H on twitter and said that it was time to go back to being retired.

However, this is not the first time Kurt Angle has appeared on WWE this year. He had also made an appearance on RAW earlier this year when WWE was taping from Pittsburg. Angle was inducted into the WWE Hall Of Fame in 2017 and even served as the RAW General Manager till 2018. He has made sporadic appearances since then both in and off ring.
