Former WWE United States Champion Kevin Owens credited Triple H for his arrival and success in the world’s biggest pro-wrestling promotion – WWE. Vince McMahon’s pro wrestling promotion has been home to some of the greatest wrestlers of all time. But a new company named All Elite Wrestling has come up in the last few years, and it has been a good competitor for WWE.
One of the main reasons behind AEW’s quick rise in popularity is that the company has signed many former WWE Superstars. Recently, when Kevin Owens’ contract expired, rumors were rife that he may head to AEW and reunite with the likes of Bryan Danielson and Jon Moxley. However, the same did not happen as Kevin decided to sign a new deal with WWE.
Kevin has been one of the top Superstars on the main roster for quite some time now. He had a memorable feud with the Universal Champion Roman Reigns during the Thunderdome Era, whereas he also main-evented WrestleMania 38’s opening night with WWE Hall of Famer Stone Cole Steve Austin.
When asked about the role that Triple H has played in his career, Owens said in an interview with talkSPORT:
“I wouldn’t be here without him. That’s all that comes to it. When you say full stop, that really is it. Nobody has done more for me than Triple H in my career.”
Kevin Owens comments on Triple H’s retirement from in-ring wrestling
While Owens main-evented WrestleMania 38, on the same show, Triple H announced his retirement from pro wrestling. Hunter is a multi-time champion and a former on-screen associate of Kevin Owens. Reacting to his decision to retire due to health issues, Owens added:
“I think I echo what everyone has said: It’s very unfortunate in the way he didn’t get to retire in the ring, but he made the right decision for himself.”
