This week’s SmackDown episode was pre taped. It was taped after last week’s episode, as the superstars were travelling to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel before Friday. On last week’s SmackDown, Shayna attacked Natalya from behind and locked her in a Kirifuda Clutch after she challenged Ronda Rousey backstage. The Canadian superstar told the SmackDown Women’s champion that she wouldn’t remain the champion if she had answered her open challenge instead of Emma. Baszler, who was listening to this, locked Natalya in her submission before letting her go and leaving her gasping for air. This segment also showed the newly formed alliance between the two former MMA fighters. Let’s not forget Natalya and Baszler used to compete as a tag team earlier.

A match between them was announced for this week. Shayna was accompanied to the ring by Rousey. The match between the former tag team partners was good and technical and it ended with Baszler submitting Natty again with the Kirifuda Clutch. However, this time the SmackDown Women’s Champion asked Shayna to “Finish Her”. This led her to give The Queen of Harts a busted nose with that running knee.

She even called her herself a “#HARTbreaker” on twitter boasting about the act. In a backstage interview she explained her actions saying “..Everyone around here has forgotten what I’m capable of. Including me…”. This could indicate her going back to her vicious NXT persona and her alliance with Ronda Rousey can turn them into the strongest women’s tag team.

WWE hasn’t updated about the extent of Natalya’s injury yet. This could mean that the injury is kayfabe. Whatever it may be, she should be looking for retribution next week.
