A Record Is About To Break This Friday On SmackDown Between The Usos and The New Day

A record setting match is set to take place on November 11th at SmackDown. On November 4th, WWE announced that The New Day will face the winners of the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Championship match between The Usos and The Brawling Brutes at Crown Jewel. The Usos were successful in retaining their titles and they will now face Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston this Friday.

The match will be historic because if The Usos win, they will effectively become the longest reigning WWE Tag Team Champions in history breaking The New Day’s record. The New Day holds the record for the longest WWE Tag Team Championship reign at 483 days. They were holding the RAW Tag Team Championships at that time in December 2016.

The Usos, Jimmy & Jey, last became the SmackDown Tag Team Champions on July 18th 2021 when they beat The Mysterios, Rey and Dominik, at Money In The Bank. They unified the RAW and SmackDown Tag Team titles making it the Undisputed WWE Tag Team Titles. On the SmackDown episode of May 20th they defeated the RAW Tag Team Champions RKBro (Randy Orton & Matt Riddle) to achieve this feat. If noted separately, they are 3 times RAW Tag Team Champions and 5 times SmackDown Tag Team Champions.

Beating the reigning Undisputed Champions won’t be easy because they are part of WWE’s most powerful faction, The Bloodline. They will have their brother Solo Sikoa and Honorary Uce Sami Zayn by their side, to interfere in their favour. Also The New Day are a member short with Big E being on the injured list.

Things may be looking tough for the challengers but there is a ray of hope for them. Jey Uso is apparently suffering from a wrist injury that he received on WWE’s Europe tour. This means he will be performing at less than 100% on Friday. Kingston and Woods can exploit this injury and isolate him to win and preserve their record.
