Keith Lee was trending on Twitter today after a wrestling news handle tweeted a throwback video. It was a video from Survivor Series 2019 where Keith Lee and Roman Reigns were the last two competitors in the battle of the brands. The 43 seconds video shows Lee and Reigns in the final seconds of the match where Roman gets Spirit Bombed. However, he kicks out of the pin and spears Lee to pick the win for Team SmackDown.

Soon, many other verified and general accounts picked up the trend and started sharing the video giving their own thoughts. The general consensus was that WWE shouldn’t have released Lee as he was a wealth of talent.
Survivor Series 2019 was easily one of the top 10 Survivor Series of all time and certainly the most creative. It involved 3 brands (RAW, SmackDown and NXT) for the first time, instead of the traditional two.
The men’s three way Survivor Series elimination match featured 5 members from each brand. Teams of Raw had Seth Rollins, Drew McIntyre, Kevin Owens, Randy Orton and Ricochet; SmackDown featured Roman Reigns, Braun Strowman, King Corbin, Mustafa Ali and Shorty G; NXT consisted of Tommaso Ciampa, Damian Priest, Matt Riddle, Keith Lee and Walter.
The match was highly entertaining and ran for 31 minutes which saw eliminations happening one after another. Roman eliminated McIntyre as well as teammate Corbin by spears. Lee eliminated Rollins after hitting him with a Fireman’s Carry Jackhammer. After all eliminations, Lee and Reigns then faced off as seen in the video above with Roman emerging as the winner. After the match, even Roman acknowledged Lee with a fist bump.
Keith Lee was released last year during the pandemic along with wife Mia Yim. Mia is back in the company but Lee is performing with AEW. He and Swerve Strickland recently lost a match for the AEW World Tag Team Championship at AEW Full Gear. Their team Swerve In Our Glory imploded during the match and they are rivals now.

Lee is a rare combination of size, strength, speed and agility and WWE releasing him was their loss and AEW’s gain.
