Big E made a rare public appearance since his neck injury, a few days back during the Fox College Football Show. He appeared to be completely recovered and was bursting with his usual explosive energy.
He used to play as a defensive tackle for the Iowa Hawkeyes and was dressed in black and yellow overalls which are the team’s colors as well. He even got an energetic entrance ahead of the football match between Iowa and Michigan and celebrated with the fans too. He was seen hyping his Iowa fans in his trademark style and even caked a Michigan fan in the face.
The highlight of the event was Big E lifting former multi team NFL Running Back Reggie Bush on his shoulders and carrying him around the show’s set.
He was in the stands during the entire game, enjoying his team play but unfortunately, they lost against the Michigan Wolverines. However, last year when he had predicted Iowa as the winner wearing the exact same outfit, he was dead correct. They had defeated Penn State by a million as he had predicted.
Big E injury update
On the March 11th episode of SmackDown, Big E and his New Day partner Kofi Kingston had a tag team match with Ridge Holland and Sheamus. When the match went ringside, Holland attempted a belly-to-belly overhead suplex on Big E and as he tossed the big man in the air, he landed on his head on the floor, breaking his neck in the process. He later revealed that he had fractured his C1 and C6 vertebrae.
But to his relief, he had suffered no ligament or spinal cord injury and would not require any surgery. However, his return to the ring is still up for a toss because as he revealed, his C1 isn’t ossifying yet. The doctors have even warned him that another injury like this could be catastrophic for him. He wants to go through a rigorous scan when this injury reaches 1 year mark to see if a return is even possible for him.
