Matt Riddle’s Suspension Could Be More Than A Failed Drug Test

Matt Riddle is reportedly suspended from WWE due to another failed drug test. The Original Bro was written off TV due to a kayfabe injury.

He was attacked by Solo Sikoa on the December 5^th episode of RAW. Sikoa even used his uncle Umaga’s Samoan Spike as a tribute.

Soon after, WWE announced that Riddle would be out of action for the next 6 weeks to recover from his storyline injuries. However, it’s being reported that he will actually be gone as a result of a suspension resulting from a second failed drug test. He has apparently already entered rehab.

Riddle’s first drug test failure happened over the summer when he was feuding with Seth Rollins. WWE had to postpone their match at Summerslam to Clash At The Castle in September citing creative adjustments. Back then he was reinstated before 30 days, which is the standard duration for a suspension. Even this time, he is only being suspended for 6 weeks, which is a couple of weeks shy of 60 days. So the duration of Riddle’s suspensions have been inconsistent in compliance to WWE norms. WWE hasn’t declared any changes in their Wellness Policy yet.

There is a rumour going around that this suspension may not be drug related but something else. Matt went through a nasty divorce this year where the custody battle for his children is still impending. It is said that he needed some time off to deal with this drama. His time off TV could be for this.

Another superstar who’s had a regular run in with WWE’s Wellness Policy is Jeff Hardy. He was suspended multiple time during his WWE tenure. Hardy presently stands suspended even in AEW after he was caught Driving Under the Influence in Florida.

Matt Riddle found success in WWE as a part of the RK-Bro tag team with Randy Orton. Orton recently went through a back surgery and is recovering in his time off.
