“I Hope Things Work Out For You”- Undertaker’s First Opponent Reveals What He Told Him In 1990

Many fans would know that Mario Mancini was Undertaker’s first opponent in the ring. The Deadman made his WWE debut in 1990 at the Survivor Series show. However, before that appearance, he wrestled a match against Mancini at a WWE Superstars taping.

While the Phenom has already retired, Undertaker’s first opponent recently called it a day on his pro wrestling career. After retirement, he appeared on the Cheap Heat Productions Podcast, where he recalled the chat he had with the Deadman back in 1990.

The Undertaker was all praise for his opponent, and so was Mario Mancini. Here are the details of their conversation:

“I shook his hand and said, ‘Good luck, it’s nice to have you here. Good luck, I hope things work out for you,’” said Mario.

During that post-match chat, Mario also appreciated the Undertaker, saying that he moved swiftly for a man of his size. None of the two men would have imagined back then that the Undertaker will become such a megastar.

He became a very successful Superstar who won 21 consecutive matches at WrestleMania. To date, Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns are the only two Superstars to defeat him at the Show of Shows.

Undertaker’s first opponent Mario Mancini had high hopes for his opponent

In the same interview, Mario Mancini was asked if he ever guessed or thought his new opponent would become such a legend. Mancini replied honestly and said that he had high hopes from the Deadman, but he did not know how successful he would be in this profession.

Mancini concluded by saying that he would like to receive an invitation to the WWE Hall of Fame ceremony whenever the company inducts the Undertaker into the Hall of Fame because he was his first opponent. It will be interesting to see whether WWE inducts the Deadman into the Hall of Fame this year.
