Explained: Here’s Why WWE Has Not Built Up Survivor Series So Far

One of the ‘Big 4’ WWE pay-per-views of the year, WWE Survivor Series, is all set to happen on November 21. The company generally uses the RAW vs. SmackDown theme for this show, and the buildup begins a month before the show begins. However, this year, the creative team has still not booked any segment that particularly hypes up the pay-per-view.

Now, the reason behind the same has been disclosed. According to Dave Meltzer of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has not focused much on the Survivor Series show because they booked the Crown Jewel pay-per-view heavily.

“WWE’s mentality when it comes to Survivor Series is that Crown Jewel 2021 was pushed so heavily and that their current focus is getting fresh feuds over with the new post-Draft rosters, that they are content to leave the build until the final few weeks,” a report in WhatCulture reads.

WWE announced the four teams for Survivor Series earlier today

Normally, WWE announces the RAW and SmackDown Survivor Series on TV episodes. However, this time, they announced the teams on social media. The male team of RAW comprises Seth Rollins, Kevin Owens, Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio and Finn Balor. The SmackDown team consists of Drew McIntyre, Jeff Hardy, King Xavier Woods, Sami Zayn and Baron Corbin.

The SmackDown women’s team comprises Sasha Banks, Shotzi, Natalya, Shayna Baszler and Aliyah. The member of the RAW women’s team are Bianca Belair, Rhea Ripley, Liv Morgan, Carmella and Queen Zelina Vega.

The rules of WWE Survivor Series traditional match will be the same as before. Each team has five members. The team whose all five members are eliminated first via pinfall, submission, count-out or disqualification will be declared the loser. Last year, RAW blanked SmackDown in the men’s match. Apart from this, there will also be the Champion vs Champion matches.
