“That was crazy”, Akira Tozawa on how the Royal Rumble triumph of Shinsuke Nakamura had an impact on his life

Shinsuke Nakamura has been one of the biggest names in the industry. Ever since his return from the hiatus, he has been almost unstoppable and even despite the results going against him, he keeps on battling the stars and his own demons alike. The way he is going at Cody Rhodes, it is simply mind-boggling.

In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda Wrestling, Akira Tozawa, one of the rising wrestlers from Japan was thoroughly impressed with what the King did in the 2018 Royal Rumble. In the aforementioned Rumble, the final four were Finn Balor, John Cena, Roman Reigns and Shunsuke Nakamura.

Balor was the one calling the shots before he was cleaned up by John Cena. However, it was Nakamura who took out Reigns and Cena comfortably to go onto win the Royal Rumble. Following that victory he went onto challenge AJ Styles for the title but eventually he was defeated. However, the Rumble win for Nakamura left an ending impact on Akira Tozawa.

Here is what Akira Tozawa had to say about the Royal Rumble triumph of Shinsuke Nakamura

Speaking to Sportskeeda’s Emily Mae, Tozawa said, “Ah, Shinsuke Nakamura won the Royal Rumble match. Ya, that was, that was crazy. I was like, oh yeah, he is Japanese! He is Japanese!”

Ever since Tozawa joined the Alpha Academy, Chad Gable kept a closer tab on the Japanese wrestler. Talking to the Bump, Gable said, “He [Akira Tozawa] has got a lot of work to do. He is still a junior cadet. I’ve got full-on, 24/7 surveillance on this guy and his training. So I can keep an eye on him at all times. The problem is every time I check the camera, I would turn it on, he is doing the freakin’ Tozawa Shuffle, as it has come to be known. But he snaps out of it quick. He gets back to his training. So, he’s learning.”

He further said, “No days off. Not in the early stages man. Everybody wants to be a part of the Academy. But they don’t realize the work that goes in, right?”
