“Shane McMahon Got Axed After That”- Randy Orton Reveals WWE’s Original Plan For 2022 Men’s Royal Rumble

The 2022 edition of the WWE Royal Rumble happened earlier this year, with Brock Lesnar and Ronda Rousey winning the men’s and women’s matches, respectively. Lesnar entered #30 and won the match in no time. The match featured some big names like Randy Orton, Shane McMahon, Bad Bunny, and others.

In a candid chat with Riddle on BT Sport’s Know Your Bro, Orton disclosed that the original plan for him was to enter the Royal Rumble at #30. However, because of some last-minute mix-up, he ended coming out earlier. The #30 went to Brock Lesnar, who won the match.

Here’s the conversation between Randy and Riddle from that show:

Riddle: I know when you were supposed to enter [the 2022 men’s Royal Rumble], and then somebody did…

Orton: Right. That’s like Shane McMahon got axed after that because of the whole… [Orton & Riddle laughed]. Sorry Shane, love you, man. I think I was 29. I was supposed to be 30. I was supposed to be. I might have been 28…29. 

Randy Orton and Riddle have dominated the WWE RAW Tag Team Division

Many members of the WWE Universe would have seen that Randy Orton and Riddle have dominated the tag team division on the Red brand. Known as RK-bro, the duo of Orton and Riddle have held the RAW Tag Team Championships for quite some time. They were set to challenge the SmackDown Tag Team Champions, The Usos in a title unification match.

However, WWE canceled that match and instead decided to have a six-man tag team match, with Roman Reigns joining the Usos and Drew McIntyre uniting forces with RK-Bro. Roman and his brothers emerged victorious in that contest.

It seems unlikely that the WWE creative team will consider unifying the tag team titles anytime soon. Both RK-Bro and Usos have done an excellent job as the champions so far.
