CM Punk Might Never Return To AEW As They Intend To Buy Out His Contract

CM Punk’s future in AEW is looking gloomy at the moment. The suspended superstar may never return after the infamous brawl that happened backstage after the All Out media scrum.

In early September during the scrum, Punk had some fiery and controversial remarks. He vented out against Colt Cabana, Hangman Page and rest of the top AEW stars.

Although there are conflicting reports about what transpired, the general agreement is that Punk was the one who started throwing hands. It was like a bar room brawl with Punk, Matt and Nick Jackson, Kenny Omega, Ace Steel and even Punk’s dog Larry. Due to this unruly behavior, AEW suspended Punk, Omega and The Young Bucks and fired Steel.

New reports are coming in which say that The Elite kicked in the door to Punk’s locker room and it hit his dog Larry in the face. Two of the dog’s teeth were knocked loose from the impact. However, some object to this story. Punk says that he retaliated to this sudden aggressive behaviour in self defense when he started throwing punches at the Young Bucks. An independent investigation regarding this whole mess is still ongoing.

Punk tore his left bicep during the match with Jon Moxley at All Out. He had a surgery to repair it soon after and will be out of action for 6 to 8 months. According to insider reports, AEW is interested in buying out the remainder of Punk’s contract because they don’t want him back. The general consensus backstage is that CM Punk is a toxic individual. Sources say that Chris Jericho had confronted Punk after the brawl and called him a “cancer”. Even Brit Baker agreed to this on a podcast.

CM Punk’s giant ego has always been his Achilles’ heel. WWE pushed him as the top champion even after his famous pipe bomb promo against them. But he left wanting more. Next, he was a very unsuccessful fighter in UFC. Now we’re seeing the same thing happening in AEW. Although Tony Khan wouldn’t want to go down the legal route, it seems he will have to.
